Current Opening – Goodbudget Project Manager & Customer Support Rep

Goodbudget is on the lookout for a focused, collaborative individual to serve in our home budget app business. The Project Manager and Customer Support Representative role is a full-time position based in our San Francisco office with at least 3 days a week in office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday), and optionally 2 days a week (Monday and Thursday) remote.

You’ll translate long-range product vision into weekly work plans, and you’ll coordinate with our software engineers to keep projects moving and consistently deliver reliable updates to our Web, iPhone, and Android apps. You’ll test every build before it goes out and break things so we can fix them as a team. Plus, you’ll support our customers via email and on our forums so they can budget successfully. A passion for personal and family budgets is a huge plus!

What you’re capable of

  • Organize people, time, information, and resources so our team can work effectively to design and develop each new software release
  • Manage and synthesize multiple inputs from engineers, customers, and product teammates into clear weekly work plans
  • Keep projects moving forward on time and within budget by keeping detailed track of what still needs to be done and how long it will take
  • Check in with developers and designers and help them prioritize their work
  • Facilitate communication across the team and delegate questions to team members
  • Care for our customers by responding to queries empathetically via email
  • Research customer issues to provide bug reports to developers and workarounds to customers
  • Give and receive feedback effectively with engineering, design & product teammates
  • Support decision making with information about impact, roadblocks, tradeoffs, and opportunities

What you’re ready to learn

  • Translate long-term product vision into day-to-day and week-to-week priorities for our engineering team
  • Rigorously test software releases to create great user experiences on Web, iPhone, and Android
  • Support developers with thorough testing and detailed feedback on bugs, usability, flow, and language
  • Advocate for customers in decision making across the business, including feature requests
  • Anticipate concerns like cross-platform implications and effects on disparate user groups
  • Spot opportunities for maintaining and enhancing our product
  • Contribute to the planning, design, prototyping, and execution of app releases
  • Be a thought partner to help us look out for the long-term growth of our product and brand
  • Budget for your own household with Goodbudget’s approach

What to expect

  • Mentorship by experienced project managers and customer support staff
  • Input into all changes to the Goodbudget Web, iPhone, and Android apps
  • Product oversight of the Goodbudget apps by our Product Lead
  • An opportunity to grow into product management
  • A community of fellow teammates who put customers first
  • A cross-functional team with product, engineering, design, and marketing skills to match up with your skills
  • An in-person role (with a hybrid option) alongside a collaborative team in the office, with one member permanently working remotely
  • Goofy teammates who appreciate homemade pastries and work a smart 40 hour week
  • A role in a profitable, bootstrapped app business — we haven’t taken any outside funding since we started in 2009 and we’re in it for the long haul
  • Salary of $80,000 – $88,000 annually based on experience and qualifications; plus paid time off, health insurance, and other benefits

Why you’ll love Goodbudget

  • We believe in a world where people are in right relationship with each other and money, and we work toward making that a reality every day.
  • We geek out over all the numbers in budgets.  More than that, we believe budgets reveal what — and whom — we value.  And the way we budget can help us focus on what’s truly important in life.
  • We believe that real money talk is based in relationships and is driven by deep values like justice and mercy, not dollars and cents.
  • We actually try to live out these hopes and ideas in our own personal and family budgeting.

Why we believe Dayspring is unique

  • We desire to live out an ethic of love–for our co-workers, for our customers, and for our community–in the practice of business. In the workplace, we want to do the joyful work of welcoming people with a variety of backgrounds into our company’s vision.
  • We sincerely desire to do right by the customers we serve. We keep our promises, we speak with respect, and we apologize when we ought to. And we expect to hold one another and to be held accountable to this.
  • We share each other’s burdens, and we put ourselves aside long enough to lend a helping hand. People aren’t constantly positioning themselves.  No office politics here.  And when your loved ones are sick, we’ll treat you like a person first and a worker second.
  • We share an office in San Francisco because we believe being together in person matters, and that practicing common life shapes us for the good.  And we’re called and committed to our broader community in our Bayview neighborhood, including through our partnerships with Redeemer Community Church and Rise University Preparatory.

You should apply if you’re

  • Organized and relentlessly detail-oriented
  • An exceptional written, oral and visual communicator in cross-functional settings
  • Comfortable with numbers
  • A thorough, systematic, and creative tester who enjoys breaking things
  • Empathetic, with a “customer first” attitude
  • Interested in growing into product management
  • Passionate about personal and family budgets
  • Believe people with varied income levels should have quality software tools
  • Intimately familiar with personal finance apps
  • Appreciative of what’s uniquely possible with in-person work
  • Highly aligned with our vision of good business that brings wholeness
  • At your best in a team-oriented environment
  • Always up for a challenge and learning something new
  • Using Goodbudget (now or soon!) for your personal budget
