The great outdoors. Greatly connected.
Client
The California State Parks Foundation is a statewide nonprofit foundation dedicated to protecting, enhancing and advocating for California’s magnificent state parks.
Situation
CalParks’ dedicated staff relies on technology to manage all the organization’s needs around recruiting, serving and communicating with its sizeable membership base of 130,000. CalParks originally tracked its membership and fundraising efforts in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge. When they decided to move to Salesforce, CalParks’ internal software programming staff did significant work to migrate out of Raiser’s Edge into Salesforce utilizing Convio’s Common Ground App for Salesforce. With Blackbaud’s purchase of, and subsequent decision to sunset, the Common Ground platform, CalParks transitioned to Blackbaud’s Luminate’s integration with Salesforce. When one of their key staff left their organization they kept moving forward, but found themselves in need of additional Salesforce help to address the backlog items that needed to be addressed.
Execution
Dayspring’s Salesforce consulting team dove in and immediately worked on Salesforce admin punchlist items that had accumulated. Gradually, we moved to additionally suggest and implement Salesforce best practices; propose apps and tools that could serve well; train staff on Salesforce reporting; and build additional custom reports and dashboards.
As a part of the engagement, Dayspring also helped document existing functionality and processes around Salesforce, putting CalParks in a more resilient place organizationally and ensuring that its mission continues to be fulfilled—and that generations of Californians will continue to enjoy the state’s amazing network of parks.
